Abstract
The purpose of this in vitro study was to determine whether adhesive lining materials reduce microleakage and to observe the interfaces between dentin and amalgam with SEM observation.
One hundred specimens were randomly assigned to five equal groups for liner placement : Group 1-control, no liner used ; Group 2-Copal/Varnish ; Group 3-Panavia EX ; Group 4-All Bond2 ; Group 5-Superbond D-liner. After liner placement and amalgam
filling, Specimens set for 24 hours and were then thermocycled in 0.5% basic Fuschin dye, sectioned and examined for microleakage under Spectroscopy at 30X magnifications and SE analysis performed.
@ES The results based on the data, statistically analyzed were as follows:
@EN 1. Significantly less microleakage was noted in specimens using 4-META adhesives (Superbond D-liner), All Bond2 as compared in which Copal /Varnish was used. (P<).05).
2. The'4-META adhesive (Superbond D-liner) and All-Bond2 appeared to decreased most of the microgaps between amalgam and dentin, and appeared to infiltrate into the dentin substrate in SEM observation.
3. Except for Copal/Varnish group. There is no significance in microleakage using various liners under high copper and low copper amalgams. (P>0.05).
